The access rates in Zombo vary from 57 % in Alangi Sub-County to 95 % in Jangokoro Sub-County. Zombo has 1,388 domestic water points which serve a total of 237,530 people – 199,060 in rural areas. 319 water points have been non-functional for over 5 years and are considered abandoned. Zombo has 8 piped schemes.

ZORUDENA aims at campaigning and mobilizing resources for provision of clean water to the people of Zombo districts. Read More

The residents resorted to using the water from the wells for drinking, cooking and for other domestic purposes after failures of all the clean water sources in their villages. Yet the water sources available are not clean for domestic uses. This has prone the community to the pathogenic microorganisms, their toxic exudates, and other contaminants together, which cause serious conditions such as cholera, diarrhea, typhoid, amebiasis, hepatitis, gastroenteritis, giardiasis, campylobacteriosis, scabies, and worm infections, to name a few.

Women and children spent a lot of time to look for clean water and finally they end up fetching water logging in swamps.

ZORUDENA has launched awareness to cover 75 villages and build mobile resource to build 75 spring wells in Zombo district in order to abundant the usage of water logging for domestic consumption. Here below are women and children fetching water.

ZORUDENA has a team of people who are committed to equip youth in Uganda starting with the district of Zombo district with the knowledge and know-how to handle business opportunities and future job endeavors. We believe that personal development, education and vocational skills development are the way to end poverty. We advocate for a better future for youth and women our project districts through all the activities and projects we do.

In line with the national need for vocational training, we support economic development, by creating partnerships and projects to inform, educate and train youth and women. We aim to facilitate and endorse a belief that vocational training will offer youth the chance to secure jobs faster, to be self-reliant and establish their own businesses.

Zombo District Health Officer, Dr Mark Bonny Bramali reveals that 70% of the recorded 2186 teenage pregnancy cases recorded are for girls between the age of 14 and 16 years. This results from idleness and among youths who in turn engage in to sexual relationship instead of doing production work. Icon read more

  Skilling women

The project will empower them with skills. The peasant women who have are responsible for providing day to day needs of their Families, Yet with No Stable Household Income Source, and most of them are Single Teenage Mothers. This is because Men have abandoned their Responsibilities.

We are aware that the development of the people of Uganda needs participation of the rural community in order to achieve all the millennium development goals. It is upon this background that, members to ZOMBO RURAL DEVELOPMENT NETWORK ASSOCIATION (ZORUDENA) have come together to make a firm commitment for the development of the majority and the under privileged classes. Commitment has been made to ensure gradual socio-economic development, production processes and sustained material and cultural development in the standard of living of people through planned economic development. It has been committed that basic needs of people such as food, clothing, shelter, health and education facilities as well as employment, human rights , right to work and social security will be provided . There are promises to remove rural urban disparity through the development of agriculture, cottage and rural industries. Rural electrification, development of transport and communication, improved nutritional level and public health and ensure equal opportunity for all.

REALIZING that poverty, illiteracy, incapacitation and several socio-economic issues hinder efforts, ZORUDENA is formulated to bridge the gap that can lead to improved standard of living of the vulnerable people of Zombo district. Convinced that, this can be addressed through the primary focus of promoting human development by increasing human capacity as well as improving human conditions. Human capacity and productivity can be increased by installing positive outlook and teaching new skills through diverse skills training and at the same time by empowerment of the people. Improving human conditions involves not only adequate income, good feeding, safe water for drinking, good sanitation, family planning services, safe and healthy environment etc. Human development is reflected in enhanced status of individuals both in the family and in the society beginning from the rural background. This has led to the formation of the non profit making organization called ZOMBO RURAL DEVELOPMENT NETWORK ASSOCIATION (ZORUDENA).
